Straight answers, from me, not a script.
Online chess coaching typically runs anywhere from $20 an hour for an untitled coach to well over $100 an hour for a titled player, depending on experience. My entry point is the $130 Strategy Assessment, a 2 hour working session, with ongoing monthly coaching from $240 a month depending on the format. The price reflects a structured system and verified results, not just time on a board.
No, and that's deliberate. The entry point is the $130 Strategy Assessment, a real 2 hour working session where I review your games and build you a roadmap. It filters for players who are serious about improving, and you leave with something real either way, not a sales pitch dressed up as a free call.
The Strategy Assessment runs 2 hours over Zoom. Ongoing coaching sessions are scheduled around whichever monthly stream you join.
I start by reviewing your actual games to understand how you think and where you're losing points. From there I build a strengths and weaknesses audit and a structured study plan, and we work that plan together, reassessing and adjusting each month.
The Socratic method, built on Bloom's Taxonomy: questions that unlock your own understanding rather than a lecture. I also teach two frameworks I use in my own games, the Piece Activity Count and the Rule of Three, so you can start evaluating positions the way I do.
Yes. I work with serious improvers from beginners under 800 through tournament players past 1800. The plan is built around your level, your time, and how you learn, not a generic curriculum.
Yes, the study plan covers whatever is actually costing you points, whether that's opening preparation, middlegame planning, or endgame technique.
Most of my students are driven, time-constrained adults, professionals in their 40s to 60s who have more money than time and want a structured, efficient path back to improvement, rather than more content to sift through.
There are three formats: Correspondence ($240/month, asynchronous study plans and game analysis), the Small-Group Cohort ($640/month, live weekly group coaching), and the Premium 1-on-1 Intensive ($1,280/month, full bespoke attention). Which one fits depends on your goals and schedule, and we'll talk through that at the Assessment.
Yes. Every study plan includes structured exercises tied to what we're working on, and we review them at the start of the next session to make sure the ideas actually transferred to your own games.
If you complete your study plan in full and don't see measurable improvement within 60 days, I'll continue coaching you at no additional charge until you do.
Coaching is billed monthly, so a missed session isn't simply refunded. I'll do my best to make it up within the same week; if that doesn't work, that session is missed for the month.
Book a Strategy Assessment. That first session is the diagnosis; what happens after depends on what we find.
